    Thanks for this excellent post and link to the article.

    My best friend's wife (I'll call her Joan) had a breakdown and under about a year of psychoanalysis
    it was learned that she had been repressing low self-esteem. It stemmed from when she was a child and her mother
    said she wished Joan had a been a cat, so she could have drowned her.

    Joan recovered and even flew to her dying mother's bedside to forgive her.

    My low self esteems comes from my mum, I am starting to think that she had post natal depression when I was born.
