Real life situations - what did I do wrong in implementing tms strategy

Yesterday, my neighbour brought his 1 year old over. Since the kid was playing on the floor, I had to constantly look downwards which is usually the major cause of my neck pain. I didn't realise the pain was increasing in perhaps the first 20 minutes. Then it started hurting more, then using the TMS strategy and the fact that this was perhaps one of the most pleasurable activity is that I would have done, I continue to ignore the pain and play with the kid. Approximately an hour later the pain had gotten intense enough that I had lay down and take rest

So nowin my head the thought is that ignoring the pain is not working. Moreover, I don't know what will I do if you bring his kid again because I really want to interact with him

For almost the entire 24 hours since then, the pain has been really bad. So I continued with the think clean strategy advocated by monte. Inbetween, I continued with mindfulness meditation

So far, the only thing that has helped is rest

So my question is what to do on my neighbour brings kid get back again. I don't know for now if there is any other better activity that I can have compared to playing with the kids because I really like it.

I've really also appreciate the TMS theory but I am really not sure how to implement it.
