pretty sure my dad has TMS

Background: my mom/his wife is a narcissist. I'm sure most of my health issues are from years of psychological abuse. Same for him. He's never allowed to have his own opinions and spends his life trying to keep her happy. Whenever he has his own opinions about anything, she'll tell him why he's wrong.

A few years ago my dad started having dysphagia. He's been to numerous specialists who basically said the swallowing process is messed up. My mom enjoys pointing out (I'm guessing she enjoys it because she seems to do it often) the trouble he has swallowing and his decreased voice clarity, and says "well he's been to every doctor there is [this is mistaken] and they can't fix it."

What is it they say, trouble swallowing/speaking is connected to not being able to say the things you want to? That's my dad 100%. He'll never admit it, though.

@newlearner I also have an nmom and my dad got lupus, an autoimmune disease, because of the stress of it. He's doing better now, it's mostly under control, thank goodness.

We've both gone no contact with her, but haven't formally separated. The more you engage with narcissists the more they can hurt their victims. Don't give them an iota of your time, energy, and attention.
