Hi all, I just listened to this week's episode of Like Mind, Like Body (Curable's podcast) and wanted to share it here! https://www.curablehealth.com/podcast/chronic-pain-relapse-john-stracks-md (Recovery Is Not a Straight Line) It's another interview with Dr. John Stracks, and it's all about relapses. He is very open and vulnerable and shares his recent experience of a personal relapse that I think many of us can relate to. Topics of discussion include the value of vulnerability and the idea that it's ok not to "power through" your issues (a natural instinct for many of us, given the Western culture we live in). I also enjoyed a discussion of using the body to heal the mind, not only just the traditional TMS method of using the mind to heal the body. Dr. Stracks goes to some various bodyworkers, not with the idea that they will somehow fix his body, but with the mindset that some work on the body could help his mind. I always enjoy hearing a nuanced perspective on TMS work. The idea that it's not always as straightforward as "just learn about TMS and you'll heal through knowledge" is an important one and a good point for many of us to remember when healing isn't going the way we want.
