Pinched Nerve and Numbness

My MRI shows large herniated disc and a pinched nerve causing numbness. A little history: My pain started after I did lunges in the gym and it lasted for over a year. MRI showed disc herniation, which caused sciatica. About few months ago I had a massive back spasm and after the pain subsided I've started to feel numbness, weakness (toes and calf) and tingling. My spine surgeon wants to get surgery done ASAP.

I read Dr Sarno's book and truly believe in TMS but I am not sure if I am dealing with TMS correctly. Also, have others had something similar and what they did that helped them. I would greatly appreciate advice from those who have had this before.

    Hi newuser,

Welcome to the Forum. You might see my post, and use the suggestion I made to re-post with herniated disc in the title, in order to get better responses.

Seeing a TMS physician would be great, and/or get a second and third opinion before surgery is my suggestion, if possible. Many have had success with numbness and "pinched nerve" using a TMS approach. Good luck in getting more responses here as you try to decide.

Among many other diagnoses for my condition that I collected in my going around different doctors, I had a "pinched nerve" one from the chiropractor. My "pinched nerve" miraculously disappeared, along with pain, numbness, swelling, muscle stiffness and the rest of them once I started dealing with my emotions and following TMS approach. Since you are asking for advice, my advice is summarized here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0834Q46SM. You can do it, much like many people on this forum.
