Pain is back

I have been free of Pain for three Months After fighting it for 9. now its back again and i don’t know why and what i should do. Im desperate. Pain usually flared up at this time of year. Do you have any experience with pain coming back after being completely gone and if so, what did you do about it? Thank You for Your Support!
 
Hi @BarbaraF71 - it's not uncommon for pain to return. As you say "pain usually flairs" this time of year - so you are fully aware of your patterns, habits, cycles and most likely triggers.

Desperation is the fuel of TMS, so my suggestion is to do as @Wildflower6 is doing, and face the fact that this is where you are right now and that you have proven to yourself pain can go away. You may employ, without the mindset of desperation or fixing some of your TMS skills: journaling, thinking about what might be giving you very difficult emotions and allowing yourself to feel them, resting if you tend to habitually keep busy or rush to avoid the feelings (and sensations) of emotions, meditation as a way of resting both your mind and body...

Adding fear, anxiety, desperation and "fixing" (all of this is a pretty normal TMS response by the way) is adding to your suffering. This will pass.

Just when we think we are safe....... Welcome to my world. "This time of year" holds a lot of weight for many, including me. So much to be done, so many expectations.

When TMS comes back, I visit here. Others' stories are a great reminder of what is really happening, and I find that comforting. That's exactly what you did, so good for you!
 
@BarbaraF71, I took it upon myself to edit your subject line - I'm 99.999999999% sure you meant "Pain" not "Paul" ;)
(I've seen and heard complaints about aggressive autocorrect wackiness in the new iOS...)
 
Relapse is common. Just go back to doing what you were doing when you became pain free. Or start a new TMS recovery program. You need a "refresher" is all.

Barbara, I am thinking of you. I am in my 8th day of back pain (always the same muscle for many years!), and I understand you being despondent and even a bit annoyed.
I always try and analyze what, how, when, etc., this could have happened.
Being here reminds me not to run from my pain, to sit with it, to accept exactly what it is.
It's not my nature to do nothing, and I found this meditation that helps realign my thoughts. I think this fits in with TMS, even though it's not said. (If not allowed, I will delete.)

I know it's really hard, but, having suffered a lot of severe back pain myself, something I've found is that when/if you're able to stop counting the number of days you've had a symptom, the more likely it is to disappear sooner than it might otherwise have done, sooner than it has done before. (Not meant as a criticism, but just a suggestion from my own experience.)

Love the Tanner Murtagh video - imo all of his mind/body/TMS stuff on YouTube is really good.

Although guilty of it, counting days of pain is counter-productive, at best.
I'm so glad you like Tanner M.! I have been doing some of his meditations, and they seem in alignment with TMS.

Yes, they certainly do. He recovered from being bedridden with mind/body/TMS symptoms. This explains how he "gets" TMS so well. I love every one of his meditations, and I am definitely going to do his program. Much gratitude to you! :happy:
