On pain - Khalil Gibran

mike2014

Beloved Grand Eagle
Hi All,

I came across this poem today and wanted to share it with you...

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses
your understanding.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its
heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the
daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem
less wondrous than your joy;

And you would accept the seasons of your heart,
even as you have always accepted the seasons that
pass over your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the
winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.

It is the bitter potion by which the physician within
you heals your sick self.

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy
in silence and tranquillity:

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by
the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has
been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has
moistened with His own sacred tears.

Beautiful poem and thoughts, Mike.
Thanks for sharing the Khalil Gibran wisdom.

I think of the tender hand of the Unseen healing us from within us
as being that of the Holy Spirit.

Some hypnotists say we should imagine a white light surrounding us, healing us.
I think it's also the Holy Spirit, healing and protecting us, our Guardian Angel.

I love Gibrans's The Prophet.

It was given to me by a very dear uncle on my 16th birthday.

It's a small book but its packed full of wisdom & deals with nearly every aspect of life.

Here are my 2 favourites on relationships.

On marriage:
"Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

On children: ''Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.''
