Noisy hip joint

My doctor has ordered an MRI of my hip because of loud grinding sounds when I put weight on the joint and bend. There is mind-boggling pain in the hip as well. This MD is a well-known TMS doctor and I am hoping he is ordering the MRI to prove there's nothing wrong. Does anyone else out there have a VERY noisy hip joint? Sarno does not have anything in his books or am I missing something?

Personally, I'd get the MRI to see if there's anything structural behind your hip pain. Once you eliminate a structural cause, you can proceed with TMS therapy. Sounds to me like your TMS doc is doing the right thing, but I'm not an M.D. so you shouldn't consider this a "second opinion". Incidentally, I used to have a lot of popping and clicking in the hip area when I extended my left leg or put on pants, which has gradually decreased as I've progressed using the TMS methodology. However, you've got to separate cause-and-effect from incidental symptoms.

Other opinions? Post 'em up!

Hi there, I'd like to echo what Bruce has said, definitely go ahead with the MRI and check there is nothing structurally wrong. Although, it's known mind body illnesses can manifest in any shape or form.

Regardless of whether it is structural or not, I would still proceed with TMS work. Mainly because you will have a more fulfilling life knowing how to process emotions and secondly, meditation and journalling can help restore ones immune system and improve healing time.

All the best

Yep, it sounds like the MRI needs to be done. But don't lose hope, okay? Hope, and visualizing a positive outcome, and knowing, as Mike pointed out, that mind-body issues can manifest in all kinds of ways - all of these can help you have a better outcome even if you do have a physical issue.

Totally not related to joint issues, but check out this cool post today about real physiological manifestations of emotional stress that have since reversed themselves in TWO of our members: http://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/partial-recovery-female-issues.10804/
And that's the even better news - emotional stress can indeed change our bodies in real physiological ways - but we can reverse the damage. Our bodies were designed to heal - all we have to do is help them by healing our thoughts.

(heh - wish it was as easy as I just made it sound!)

Keep us posted!

I had popping, clicking hip joints for years. My knees and hip joints grinding, hissing, popping, making all kind of noise. The only thing it does is "trying" to scare me. My doctor told me he has never heard of anyone die from "noisy" joints.
It still make noise but it doesn't bother me one bit.
