Nocebo vs placebo

Hey all, I was told by my hand surgeon that my wrist will never be the same and that I may have pain for the rest of my life. 2 years ago I fell and broke both wrists and one had to be surgically repaired. I have had pain and weakness in the surgically repaired wrist. I refuse to believe his nocebo seed and am choosing to think with a positive mindset instead. Why can't doctors understand that their words carry so much weight? It makes me fume for people who are unaware of the mind body work and are given negative messaging by their doctors. I am sure most of us have had some negative messaging. I don't think I will be seeing him again and better yet, I am going to prove him wrong!!!!

I was able to beat CRPS, also known as suicide disease, out of a desperate desire to prove my doctors wrong. Nocebo can be very helpful because our anger at it multiplies our resolve to defeat it.
