Hi guys, been a forum on an off dweller for 3 years now.

Quick intro - succesfully beat TMS fibromyalgia 3 years ago after discovering Sarno and Alans work. Since then there have been on and off with many symptom imperatives and started working seriously on it this winter again - slowing down my life, focusing on self-compassion. Currently dealing with itchy/flaky skin on my face and scalp - seborrheic dermatitis, dry eyes and dry lips. Was wondering if anyone else had dry/inflamed lips + skin?

Also nice to meet you everyone, hope to be more active here :)

Hi John,

Your success story is one of my inspirations, thank you so much for sharing it :) Did you just have inflamed skin next to your nose or on other facial areas too? Did you find that yours were flaky?

I'm glad it gives you hope! My face was flaky, itchy, and red but the pain everywhere. Wearing a T-shirt hurt or leaving my arms on my lap or laying down.

Did you ever had the skin symptoms checked out or get a name for them? Just curious :)

A dermatologist diagnosed me with something but I don't remember what she said. At that point I already knew it was just systemic inflammation.

Yeah the thing i'm struggling the most is that the skin keeps getting worse for the past half a year - more and more area is getting flaky/inflamed

My skin issue got worse over a 2 year period I think then took another year to calm down. Inflammation is an extremely common mindbody issue.

If you've never made a commitment to doing a comprehensive program to deal with the underlying emotional components of stress-based symptoms, now is the time. Many people find that knowledge alone isn't enough, and they have to do the tough, sometimes scary, emotional work. Your TMS brain will resist, but the fact is that you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Our Structured Educational Program on the main TMSWiki.org is completely free of cost or obligation or even registration.

Thanks Jan, nice to connect, yeah I've read Alan Gordon's programme and actually am doing a lot of somatic therapy work that helps with emotional expression + working with a therapist from the PPC.

I get minor rashes on my ankles and wrists sounds weird but that's what it is I put some Benadryl cream at night but I know it's stress as soon as I calm down it goes away right now dealing with a bit of allergies hay fever type going through quite a busy time all that being said I don't stress it go with the flow know what it is I've been at this so long I don't bother anymore I stop think and relax and just say to myself what am I thinking and what is going on now you can make a short list if you want or just think about it putting things in perspective just makes it more clear to see obviously always get medical opinion on any condition first just my two cents

I would love to hear anyone's experience on seborrheic dermatitis I have that on my forehead and behind my ears D: I use selsium blue shampoo in the shower as I heard it keeps it at bay and it does help me but I would prefer to get rid of it permeant. I use dry mouth sprays like Lubricity strawberry for dry mouth, I get it with at night mostly but its not perfect. I just found this forum and am reviewing the the program

I have this and manage it with Nizoral OTC shampoo. Had the condition all my life and this shampoo is the only thing that has helped, I don't consider a mindbody issue just a genetic thing (runs in my family) and no longer obsess/worry over it. If it's TMS maybe it will resolve at some point but Nizoral works better than Selsum Blue.

For me its 100% TMS, I had it appear when other symptoms vanished and had experiences when it spontaneously resolved when going to a meditation retreat and then come back after

Dry mouth is a common stress-based symptom. For me, weirdly (because TMS is weirdly unique to every individual) it only happened from January until April 15th each year (I'm a US tax accountant) and it was really aggravating and distracting. And it completely disappeared on the evening of every April 15th, for years. Now that I'm retired, I only get it occasionally when I'm stressed about some kind of upcoming obligation - kind of like my TMS brain trying it on again, just to see if I'll take the bait and start obsessing about it. Mind you, back in the day, "Before Sarno" I didn't realize that I had plenty of other TMS symptoms coming and going all year long, but they were relatively mild and manageable until my age-triggered TMS crisis when I turned 60.

I recommend that you go ahead and just start doing the Structured Educational Program on the main TMSWiki.org site. It is totally free of cost or even any kind of registration obligation. You literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Thank you I will look into this!

Jan,
What an amazing story! I have a friend, also a retired tax accountant. I will ask her about her January-April health stories!

I had dry scalp and have almost quit washing my hair. I mean maybe 10 times a year. Max.
The whole notion of washing hair was invented by the Soap and chemical industry. Soap of any kind actually sucks all of the moisture OUT of your skin/hair.
I always had dry hair. I was filthy as a child; I literally had lice, smelled bad etc. (Not a lot of parenting obviously)..., but in my teen years I over compensated by becoming fastidious about bathing and such. by the time I was in my 30's, my hair was thinning, brittle and like a haystack. My skin was always dried out. From one extreme to the other

Somewhere along there I realized that washing my hair was the problem. I started only washing it if it was actually dirty (paint overspray, insulation, dirt, etc.) And lo and behold...My hair stopped thinning! No longer dry.
I know I am not the only person to discover this...many of my peers have found the same deal.

All of those oils that you need to have healthy hair are NOT restored by 'conditioners'; those are also full of GNARLY chemicals. If anything, I occasionally add some Argon Oil and just wash my hair with water and my fingers. If my scalp itches I just wash it longer with water.
The few times I do wash it? I use mild shampoos but ONLY wash the hair and don't grind it in to my scalp. Maybe on me for 10 seconds? Plain old dish soap can unseat dried paint in time...you can only imagine what it does to skin. Lye....sulfates (salt) and phosphates (more salt)

Also started using only a fraction of recommended laundry soaps and so forth. I work with chemicals a lot and see what even mild ones can do to walls and concrete...and your skin is a lot more sensitive. For that matter vinegar gets rid of weird smells better than any soap
