Hello, yuanapply. Only a TMS doctor can make the TMS diagnosis, but my opinion would be that this could definitely be TMS. I had an awful lot of neck pain when my TMS was bad and a lot of tight muscles as well. Neck pain is one of the classic manifestations of TMS and I would be surprised if it wasn't common for chronically tight muscles to be a common symptom of the condition. Perhaps you could reach out to Hasanna Fletcher, LMFT, for a referral to a TMS doctor in the area.
It is always good to see a doctor if you are uncertain about symptoms. Forest is completely right, it is a classic manifestation, one that I have personally experienced. Hope this makes you a bit less scared. I know how painful and frustrating it can be, but be confident that you can recover from it if you approach it as TMS (of course first let the doctor diagnose you); Forest did, I did and lots of people here did. Wishing you well and take care.
Yuanapply, fear not…it is very likely that your neck is just fine. But it is good that you're getting it checked out.
Having a tight neck and shoulders has plagued me for YEARS. TMS knowledge has been BY FAR, the most helpful treatment. Remember that the T in TMS stands for TENSION.
Please let us know how your doctor appointment goes.![]()
I watched the first of these videos and they sure are reaffirming on how to overcome anxiety.
I've copied and pasted them for future reference and will watch them all.
Hi @yuanapply,
It was nice talking to you just now, and I wish you very much the best. I was thinking that something else that you might want to do is the TMS Recovery Program here on the wiki:
http://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/TMS_Recovery_Program
It was written by a therapist who recovered from his own TMS.
Here's the video about my own recovery that I said I would send:
http://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/2-my-success-story.127/
The following list of RSI success stories may includes the stories that I used when I healed:

Best of luck in your recovery and please keep posting updates so we can hear how you are doing.
I'm glad it helped. How are you feeling now? We'd love an update.
Discovering that repressed emotion that you were abused at home for years can
lead you to becoming free of all pain.
Maybe think on it and then forgive, them and yourself.
Forgiveness is a major key to healing.
