Day 3 My walk today

The feeling I get when walking in the woods is unlike any other. It is immediate relaxation and joy. I saw a Great Blue Heron, ducks, and turtles today. I live in an urban area, but there's a protected river with a trail along it. Sometimes, walking makes my headache worse. Early on in my recovery, that stopped me from exercising. But now I believe the walks are worth it, because I enjoy them and I know exercise is good for my mental and physical health. I try to be in the moment and enjoy it and not worry about my headache.

This is really brave of you! But I think you’re onto something. Somehow if you can live and still be happy with your symptoms, I think they will go away eventually. Your river park sounds beautiful! I love blue herons, too. :)

If Sarno's theory that TMS is there to distract us is correct, then a very effective treatment for TMS is to refuse to let it be a distraction. Just live your life the way you want anyway.

Great job!

You are practicing outcome independence by ignoring the pain which is essential according to Alan Gordon & you are sending messages of safety to your brain which Lorimer Moseley advocates . You are living life as normally as you can which is what Sarno says you must do. Given time your brain will get the message that you are not in any danger & will relinquish its hold on you. Walking in nature is soothing, calming & a great way to send messages of safety to your brain so well done & keep up the good work !!

Thanks for the encouragement, Diana! :) Yup, blue herons are the best!

Thanks for your perspective and your encouragement, Ellen. :) I'm taking inspiration from the connection on this forum!
