Day 4 Most disheartening thing

Most disheartening thing a doctor told me:

- you're not a candidate for surgery
- there's nothing wrong
- your mri is in 10 months

In what ways have you kept that in mind?

Unconscious anger at Healthcare systemand ineptitude of doctors, receptionists, etc

This is actually great news, because now you can heal your TMS. The medical world doesn’t take into account the mind-body connection. But you can.

You're right! For context my family doctor said that to me prior to me seeing any specialists or having any imaging done (and as a rationale for her to refuse to send me for imaging). So it was disheartening at the time because it was a barrier to finding out if there was something wrong.

Ironically once I saw specialists and got imaging done they all told me something was wrong to varying degrees. I wish I would have heard that from someone later on in my journey, because you're right it is great news! I guess it depends on the faith you have in who tells it to you. That particular family doctor was quite awful.

This is why I was very happy that this site includes a list of people who can help you with a TMS diagnosis - I chose Roger Gietzen because he's a neurologist. His advice as well as reading John Sarno's books and Alan Gordon's book let me confirm that my pain was TMS.

It's funny because (like John Sarno mentions in his books) most doctors in the healthcare system who would tell you something along the lines of "this is a mental thing or has a mental component" immediately follow that up with "and therefore you are wasting my time, and also please now leave and don't come back because there is nothing I can do for you and I know nothing about this, and here are officially zero resources to help goodbye".

It is really sad to think of how many people suffer from TMS and don’t know it and either aren’t lucky enough or aren’t brave enough to come across Sarno and work on getting better. The medical world stsnds to lose ALOT of money if people all start healing themselves!
