THIS WEEK ON TMS ROUNDTABLE RECOVERY LIVE Q&A!

One helped bring Dr. John Sarno’s story to the screen.

The other is using brain imaging and modern neuroscience to study how chronic pain is created and how it can change.

So what happens when Dr. Sarno’s ideas meet the new pain science?

This week, we are bringing those two worlds together.

LIVE Q&A | Dr. Sarno, the Movie, and the New Pain Science | Michael Galinsky & Dr. Yoni Ashar

I am so honored to welcome back Michael Galinsky and Dr. Yoni Ashar for a conversation about where the mind-body movement has been, what science is showing us today, and where chronic pain recovery may be heading next.

Michael Galinsky is an artist and filmmaker who, together with Suki Hawley, created All The Rage, the documentary about Dr. John Sarno and the emotional journey of healing.

The film helped bring Sarno’s work, his patients, and his ideas about chronic pain to a much wider audience.

Joining him is Yoni K. Ashar, PhD, associate professor at the Hebrew University Department of Psychology, adjoint professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and director of the Clinical Mind Body Neuroscience Lab.

Yoni’s research uses functional MRI brain imaging, natural language processing, and other clinical and computational tools to investigate how chronic pain and other somatic symptoms are generated and effectively treated.

A major focus of his work is studying psychological and neuroscience-based approaches that aim not simply to manage chronic pain, but to help people recover from it.

Together, we’ll explore some fascinating questions:

What did Dr. Sarno understand decades ago?
What has modern neuroscience added to the conversation?
What can brain imaging actually tell us about chronic pain?

And how has the conversation moved from one doctor’s controversial ideas to researchers scientifically investigating the possibility of recovery?

If Dr. Sarno’s work has been part of your own journey, or you want to understand what today’s pain science is revealing about the brain, body, and chronic pain, you will not want to miss this conversation.
