Looking for people in London/UK who have had transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for depression

Hi everyone,

I’m a journalist with News Associates currently reporting on mental-health services in East London, and I’m looking to speak to people in the UK who have undergone transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS/rTMS) as a treatment for depression, particularly through the NHS.

I’m specifically interested in people who have been treated in London or elsewhere in the UK, and especially anyone who has had treatment recently.

I’d love to hear about your experience - how you came to be referred, what the treatment was like, how long you waited, whether it helped, and what happened afterwards.

Just to clarify, I mean transcranial magnetic stimulation as a medical treatment, rather than the TMS mind-body approach discussed on this forum.

I’m happy to speak informally by private message first, and anonymity is absolutely possible. I’m not looking for anyone to disclose anything they’re uncomfortable sharing.

If you’ve had rTMS/TMS treatment in the UK and would be willing to chat, please send me a DM. Thank you!

Sorry, but you are in the wrong place. Our TMS refers to the mindbody theory of Dr John Sarno, (MD/physiatrist at the New York Rusk Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine) which he called Tension Myositis/Myoneural Syndrome.

Ironically, later in his career Dr Sarno surmised that many mental health conditions are a form of TMS, something his contemporary followers (including this forum) agree with. The bottom line, however is that this TMS is treated with awareness, acknowledgement, and acceptance of emotional distress and repression, not with any kind of machines or invasive treatments.
