For a lot of us our symptoms may prevent us from doing certain techniques. I had severe RSI, which made typing very difficult in the beginning. A lot of this has to do with a conditioned response, which is why accepting that your symptoms are benign is so important. Fully accepting the diagnosis will signficantly reduce your fear of the symptoms. Of course, in the mean time you may want to adjust your techniques. If closing your eyes to meditate is frustrating than try to find another way to do it. Perhaps try to simply practice mindfulness in every day situations, such as brushing your teeth or doing the dishes. I always found meditation to be frustrating, so it was not the best technique for me. You may have better results incorporating other techniques.
