Hi! It's great that you've had the x rays (that should settle some of the fear you have around it being structural) - given you've clearly already had TMS (with your back), that makes this more likely to be TMS also.

Can you point to any increased stress or a specific stressful incident when this all started or got considerably worse? Did something happen physically instead at these times that is confusing you?

Last initial question - I assume that given you got better two weeks later from seeing Dr Sarno that this was because he instilled the belief in you that it was TMS, as opposed to it being due to emotional work. Did you do any emotional work at the time or afterwards, or because you got better so quickly was it left alone? That can be a clue as to what you need :)

Thanks for your answer, So i been with lain in both knees, mirror pain, first the sides, now is the front of my knees, and I start thinking maybe is because I dint excercise much etc, I see many other moms walking all the time , working happy and I feel
so sad for me and my children, I do have a very difficult marriage and I have to do everything alone at home and take care of all the emotional needs of my children, my husband is an alcoholic, is a long story but I have a lot on my plate, my family lives in another country so I dont have much support also so as you can imagine I am walking on eggshells, also to your question when I went to Dr Sarno it was right before he retired and I remembered when he said your back pain is neuroplastic I believe him immediately, he was so kind, so warm, he said to me write for 2 weeks all your stressors , and also when you were young, and it and the pain that I have for 8 months so severe went away, I still get it but I know what it is and goes away, but this is been 4 years of pain almost every day , only goes away if my back hurts or if I get a bad headache, and no nothing physical had happen to me, I did not
fell or anything but no one said is TMS and I am
so confused thank you so much!

Without being able to give you a guarantee, it sounds highly likely that it is TMS! :) Pain in both knees and all over makes me doubt it is a structural issue - and there are plenty of people who don't exercise much (many who don't at all) who have no pain, so I doubt that's the explanation. You've also had TMS before, which makes this more likely to be TMS also.

There's a lot on your plate and the stressors are definitely there. Also, if it was a structural issue in your knees then why would it go away when your back hurts or you get a bad headache? That doesn't make sense - if your knees were truly damaged then the brain wouldn't turn off the pain just because you had a headache - pain from a structural issue is meant to protect you, so the brain wouldn't be so reckless as to expose your knees like that - pain would need to be on all the time. Hopefully that makes sense :)

It does, is just I have hard time to beleive it since the pain is been there for so many years and I beleive about TMS, I do, but is so hard this time because it
doesn’t go away , like I dont know what to do anymore, thank you for your response, I really appreciate it❤️
