Interesting Leaps in Logic

So I follow a number of exercise blogs, most related to strength training, or running, or endurance sports in general. There are alot of posts like this one, representing various strength/mobility/flexibility solutions for chronic pain issues. In fact I used to "chase my tail" on these with my various issues - trying the latest stretch to fix my chronic pain etc.

Anyway, this one is pretty funny. The article proposes that tight hip flexors CAUSE tension headaches. Never mind that we all know "corrrelation doesn't equate to causality" - which this article blatantly ignores, but this is the kind of stuff I see all the time.

OMG... how did you find that?

I have 57 years worth of data that proves that leaving cookies and milk out on December 24th causes A fat guy in a suit to leave presents.

...and a giant bunny leaves candy eggs in memory of a first century rabbi's martyrdom.

All very scientific you know

I think AI is writing most of these health articles now

The entire official chronic pain medicine is built on the idea that correlation equates causation. Consider that famous back pain study that Dr. Sarno cited as a proof that chronic pain is not structural. Do you think those docs ever bothered to question the actual data of the study? The neurologist that gave me the carpal tunnel syndrome diagnosis told me that he had a patient who had no pain in the hand with a really bad EMG reading and pain in the hand with a better EMG reading. After I questioned the logic of it, he still insisted that nerves were very logical.

This is such a great line at the end of the article:
"If you have been experiencing a headache for a while and the cause seems unclear, you should check with your Physical Therapist as it may be connected with other areas of the body, such as tight hip flexors."

Can you imagine setting up physical therapist sessions and leading with this question?
