Day 1 IBS & Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Hello everyone. I feel like this is long overdue but I am nonetheless glad I’m finally diving back into the world of TMS / Mindbody medicine to heal myself of years of chronic pain/discomfort.

To start off, the mind body approach worked for symptoms I’ve had in the past, such as urinary frequency/urgency and arm pain after an injury. Sometimes I’ll feel twinges with these symptoms, but they don’t scare me at all. My current symptoms of IBS / Pelvic floor dysfunction I am finding extremely hard to shake and so I am hoping that with the TMS approach I will heal and enjoy life more. The symptoms I am dealing with include: IBS which involves an increased frequency to have bowel movements and pass gas but pelvic floor dysfunction that makes my anal muscles so tight that it makes it hard to evacuate all stool (or so I perceive). This recently evolved into being unable to pass the excessive gas most of the time so I am left feeling backed up and uncomfortable throughout the day. This is constant and doesn’t seem to let up. These symptoms seemingly feed off one another and because of the great deal of discomfort they instill it has been over a year since I’ve been dealing with them.

I feel desperate and hopeless as I start this journey to be honest. I know that these symptoms are due to my severe anxiety and OCD but I fear them so much because of how uncomfortable they are. Having recently started a full time job for the first time since graduating also makes me in fight or flight mode on a daily basis, as I am the TMS personality to a T (people pleaser, stoic, extremely irritable, etc).

I am excited to start this journey and I’d be interested in hearing from those who have healed from similar symptoms or just anyone at all!! Thank you
