I'm male and in my early 30's and have been suffering pain over a year.
I have tried all the usual stuff. Painkillers, Physio, Chiropractor, stretching, massage, acupuncture etc. I find it either makes no difference or a temporary difference for maybe a week if I'm lucky. I have seen the doctors and they can find nothing wrong with me. They have referred me for more physio and to a orthopedic specialist (which could take upto 6 months!)
I have read Dr Sarno's Mindbody Prescription and it does make sense. I recognise myself from things he says. I am struggling to accept the TMS diagnosis fully though. It seems to fully get better you have to accept TMS 100%. This is difficult, as does this mean I have to ignore doctors and physios when they say I have a physical problem like tight muscles, inflammation etc.
