Hey everyone
I’ve been a member here for many years; but not active for the last few as I got all of my issues in order by doing the right work.
A bit of background and why I’m now back. Sorry if I bore you!
i played professional rugby here in the UK. Stopped due to injuries and then went into the real world. Always an obsessive perfectionist.
around September 2019 I had a fall and injured my shoulder. This soon escalated and without going over it all I suddenly developed nerve pain, skin so sore I couldn’t wear a shirt and debilitating headaches. I was in the bath in the early hours just to ease pain. I sent up a makeshift bed on the floor because any kind of contact from my partner caused pain.
Scans and every test you can think of were done. Bulging discs, inflammation problems, nerve problems etc they said I couldn’t train anymore or do any sports.
I went away and read more books than you can think of. I didn’t take medication; I journaled, I became strict with my diet. I was determined to be FITTER and more capable than I was before. And I got there. Within 9 months I was fitter than ever. Within 12 months I was competing against in powerlifting.
fast forward a few years, I’m still fit but over the last few months I’ve had some real physical issues mainly varicocele which require surgery. No big deal. But shortly after that I was given antibiotics for an infection and pain relief. I wasn’t strict with them. It has been a very stressful time and I don’t like pills. Shortly after starting them I began to feel incredible sick, I have since developed the worst reflux imaginable. Knocks me out with the pain, it’s so bad. Cannot get comfortable anywhere. Sometimes struggle to catch my breath. I became obsessive about it having been the small dosages of pills that had caused some untold permanent damage. The cycle grew bigger and continued. I’m suffering with it this second as I write this. I struggle to eat sometimes due to the nausea. Tightness in the chest, similar to a panic attack. Yet I can sleep and when I play my computer games it’s not there. They are my escape and enjoyment. I get up to go about life and bam, it comes back.
it’s been a very stressful time all round in my personal life. The obsessive perfectionist never left me.
then it clicked- I’ve never had reflux before and this is the latest thing to play out physically due to the demands I’m under everywhere else. For nearly 5 years TMS has never crossed my mind. I had my life back. Now it’s come back with a vengeance; but this time I know it and I’m armed.
ill put in the work again and I’ll rid myself of this on record time this time. For anyone on here who is going through something for the first time: trust the process! It works. I’m back a second time just to prove it again
