Hi everyone,
I have been super active all life. CrossFitter, runner and dog walker! I have had months of intermittent lower back pain on running downhill. I fell in July and hurt the tendons in my wrist, had a steroid injection which worked after a while but I still get flare ups. I started getting tip of the heel pain driving in August time. Thought it was pressure, this went on for weeks. I kept putting my hand under my right leg when driving to ease the pressure. In September I was a family day and was standing for around 2 hours. Looking back I had months where standing for too long causes lower back to the point I couldn't walk. This felt muscular.
Following the September stand off I started to get L5, S1 pain and then the foot got worse. The heel went numb whilst driving.
I went to the GP, they said I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. I saw them, had an MRI of the spine ans pelvis, I was told the scans showed a pristine spine and pelvis. Ay this point the pain located also in the SI joint. At thank point both heels were burning and painful walking and at rest. I then had a diagnostic local anaesthetic injection to the SI joint which did nothing. I have now been referred to rheumatology.
I'm at an impasse. I know my back pain is TMS. I have emotional trauma from my childhood, 3 teenage girls, a house renovation going on, an emotionally distant husband. All my life I have been a high achiever, people pleaser and surprise surprise a nurse.
Where I am at is, I can't get my head around my heels pain being caused by TMS. What he is have heel pads atrophy? I'm fed up of tests but what if that's the explanation? But even then can TMS attribute to this weird symptom. Also if I have a waivering belief in TMS and heel pain will that make my journalling void?
I am doing journal speak and watched/listened to Dr Sarno/Nicole Sachs. I have felt suicidal at times but now have hope with the TMD theory. Any support/guidance gratefully received.
