Those are two of the most common symptoms... When my Back 'pain' began, it was a slow numbness that crept doen my leg... I tried to ignore it, but it got worse until I had to walk by manually 'escorting' my leg forward.

That turned into spasms in the butt, turned into pain up and down the leg and finally up my back.
If you read the main Text written by the founder of our way of thinking "Healing Back Pain" by John Sarno, you will find your symptoms are 'normal' and there is nothing wrong with you that educating yourself will not heal....
Most of us had similar symptoms in varying degrees and locations.
Welcome, you're in the right place...
GET THAT BOOK!
It doesn’t matter about anyone else’s pain or how they feel it or any other tiny detail. Not everyone describes their discomfort the same way.
I suggest you read any book by Dr. Sarno again, and notice the type of people he describes as being subscribe to TMS - and look to see if you feel a connection to those pages.
Notice what Dr. Sarno says to do about the pain: to open your mind to thinking psychologically and to turn away from fear and obsessive worry about the symptoms.
When you hold stress in the mind, it reflects as tension in the body -anywhere. The sensations it will give you get your attention any way they can to alert you to the stress you mostly likely do not recognize you are generating.
We’re here to support you on your journey to end the mental suffering created by the stress. When this happens, the physical symptoms eventually subside.
So let us know if any of the book resonates with you!
Please read this thread: it talks about difficulty accepting TMS diagnoses...and the person has similar pain to you. You are struggling with similar things.

If you use the search function (top right of the screen) and search for 'sitting pain' a load of threads will come up about it. This is a particularly good one imho https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/tms-pain-while-sitting.4552/ (TMS Pain While Sitting) which has Steve Ozanich's words of wisdom about it. (Steve recovered from sitting pain and back pain and other symptoms and wrote a book about it.)
I forgot you’ve mentioned this before that you had this. I remember when my doctor said I had deconditioning due to COVID and you basically said that was not true. I didn’t believe you then. But I do now. It’s amazing what TMS can create, to the point of weakness in one leg, even.until I had to walk by manually 'escorting' my leg forward
The mental suffering is really the hardest part! We’re here to support you on your journey to end the mental suffering created by the stress. When this happens, the physical symptoms eventually subside.
@Sarah89 Further to my reply to your questions (above)... Steve O writes in his book that he got his wife to hit his legs while he was sitting to act as distraction -- The premise is that the pain and/or other symptoms are a conditioned response (think Pavlov's dogs) and he wanted to break the focus (the conditioning) by creating an alternative distracting pain. The more intense the pain got with sitting, the harder he asked his wife to hit his legs. The sitting pain got worse and worse but then after 30 minutes of refusing to yield to it, refusing to stand up, his sitting pain ceased and he cried tears of joy. He also writes in his book that after that session he has never had the return of his sitting pain. (As I mention above, Steve O doesn't recommend following his lead with this - as we can defy our TMSing brains in a gradual fashion by gradually increasing the time we sit - but that was the way he conquered his sitting pain.)
I have been doing this since 98 or 99 and the list of peculiar, non consistent things it has appeared as is pretty long. Thankfully I always had the text of Sarno's books to guide me. None of these has lodged for more than a week or so...some have left in days and hours.I forgot you’ve mentioned this before that you had this. I remember when my doctor said I had reconditioning due to COVID and you basically said that was not true. I didn’t believe you then. But I do now. I have this too. It’s Sad….Lately, I’m just super exhausted from all the therapy, journaling and analysis. Maybe I’m finally getting to where I need to be. I give up. I’m too tired to fight this anymore. I guess I’ll just try and live as is and wait it out for awhile. Work on calming the anxiety. But Sarno stuff isn’t putting a dent in it for me. Well, that’s not true. It puts a dent in it. But there’s just a LOT of it.From MUCH writing and reflection, I know that I think I have to live in a spartan state of punishment and existence because I do not think i have the right to exist...I need to prove my worth every day, every minute, over and over.
