From Georgie Oldfield's SIRPA NEWS LETTER :

"Exciting new research studies using functional MRI scans are enabling researchers to look at the behaviour of chronic pain within the brain and there are some interesting findings. This article: 'Brain Imaging Shows We Can Unlearn Chronic Pain' by Eric Haseltine PhD is a great read for anyone wondering how pain affects the brain's wiring system.

When science proves something we've clinically believed for some time, the whole field of Pain Recovery takes another leap forwards in the eyes of the medical world. Haseltine's article discusses two studies, one recently published and another due early 2018. This is certainly an exciting time to be involved in this field.

So if you're just starting to understand this work and you're not sure why pain persists long after the injury which caused the pain has healed, give Haseltine's article a read. What's even more fascinating is the brain's ability to unlearn and relearn these pathways, but we'll leave that for another day.

It's great when science shows that persistent pain is not 'all in your head' but the result of changes within the nervous system and that non-surgical treatments have the power to reverse those changes and heal you from pain.

    Best wishes, from Georgie

A couple of weeks ago I shared the Curable App and we've had some really positive feedback, so I thought it would be good to share it again.

This app is based on the same mind-body approach to Chronic Pain that we use, it's called Curable and is supported by Dr John Stracks MD at Northwester Memorial in Chicago.

Loved the article by Haseltine, thanks for sharing. It explains one of the tms principles (not worrying about the pain) in such a clear way.

It's all grist to the mill and quite wonderful that research proves Sarno was right. What a pioneer that man was.
