My physical therapist presented an alternative to back surgery (after being diagnosed with herniated discs). I read Dr. Sarno's books and attended one of his lectures. By reading Dr. Sarno's books and journaling, I was able to remain pain free for several years. The pain eventually returned on and off and then moved around my body. That led to me finding the TMS Wiki, returning to therapy, and learning new practices and ways to deal with the pain distraction that was occasionally taking over my life.
