Christie Uipi MSW
TMS Therapist
Hi everyone! My name is Christie, and I've recovered from TMS (well, it's always really one big work in progress, isn't it?
) and work as a pain therapist with the Pain Psychology Center. I love reading all of your stories and am consistently inspired by the work you put in to your recoveries. The healing journey has so very many ups and downs!
Like many of my own patients, I come to the "Success Stories" forum for inspiration when I need a little hope. I wanted to ask your help with a social media campaign we started (thanks to a wonderful suggestion from Erin Kershaw), which feels like a spin-off of these Success Stories. The purpose of the campaign is to generate awareness around TMS and chronic pain recovery, even outside of the TMS Wiki community. It's called the #FightYourFear Challenge. We are asking people who have worked on their TMS recovery to make and post a video of themselves doing something they used to be afraid to do because of the pain, and to post it on social media (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) using the hashtag #FightYourFearChallenge. Maybe it's doing a push-up, maybe it's running a marathon, maybe it's riding in a car, maybe it's going on a roller coaster, maybe it's just being able to sit in a chair... these are all very real victories when you've spent weeks, months, or even years living in daily pain and fear.
Take a look at my video here: https://www.facebook.com/painpsychologycenter/videos/916117658552154/
For those of you who'd like to make your own video, we're asking that you encourage followers to donate to the upcoming mindbody research study: https://igg.me/at/mindbodystudy (The Mindbody Connection: Overcoming Chronic Pain). This link can be shared in your social media post, along with the video itself. This will help keep the movement going!
I'd love you all to join in, and I need help getting this off the ground. What do you guys think?? Anyone willing to get on board?
Thanks everyone. Wishing you all much hope and healing.
-Christie
