I'm sorry not to be able to give personal recovery data as I'm still on the road. I don't post much here anymore as I don't really know what I'd be looking for from users But just wanted to say: I have myself exchanged emails with Howard Schubiner, who told me directly that this label is TMS. In one of the emails, he also gave this POV which remains the one I have the most trouble with, but I think is essential to recovery:

"If you persist in worrying about a structural cause, you are not only hurting yourself, you are being stupid. No offense but I want to make this point clearly. Got it! Don't worry; you will get better!"

Which I would take as his very firm stance that EM is TMS. He really didn't fence-sit at all, which is refreshing.
I have come across a number of (some incidental) recoveries as well that I posted a while ago in an old comment, you may have already found them if you did a dive here on this forum.

It is regrettable that even the mindbody focused doctor gave you that kind of doomsaying; I've seen it before about varying diagnoses and think that it comes down to how "safe" they want to play in their practice. Some would rather only treat completely invisible issues that are "easier" to explain as mindbody and avoid any kind of trouble or litigation. But the TMS mechanism can use any symptom and any bodily system it chooses; if a momentary burst of nervousness can make you blush, why should any other vascular phenomena be considered impossible for stress/emotion to cause?
