Day 8 Emotions Connected to Fatigue

New Member
In general, it's hard for me to fully believe that my emotional state is connected to and/or causing my fatigue, because the fatigue is more or less omnipresent. I'm always feeling significantly worse than I did before.

However, I've made some connections. There was one night where I was doing trivia at a bar with some people who I only vaguely knew, and I remember I felt particularly fatigued that night. In the following weeks, when I became better friends with those people, I felt significantly less fatigued. I think that my fatigue could be linked to feelings of anxiety.

However, just yesterday (well after I've read Sarno's book, done some of the program, etc), I really tired myself out doing a short bout of physical activity (not even quite running, just hustling). I woke up today feeling especially exhausted. Feelings like that make me worry that the fatigue is more physical in origin, especially because I went to bed not particularly worried about it all.

Hello WellnessBound, thank you for sharing your experience. As someone who has lived with M.E/CFS for 20 years, I can relate to what you are saying. However, since doing this work, now in my 3rd week, I have felt hope for full recovery, for the first time. I can see now that my emotions are causing so many physical symptoms, such as insomnia, RSI/OOS, migraines, unrestorative sleep, exhaustion. I have been able to see the correlation between agreeing to do something I later realized I really did not want to do & depression (from self-abandonment). Likewise, I understand that my being is highly tuned & always giving me feedback. I have just adapted by ignoring it, repressing my feelings. But I see now that toxic pattern of abandoning my own needs is only reinforcing the trauma of abuse & abandonment I had growing up. Now at my age, enough already! I am now willing to remove myself from toxic relationships & environments, quickly & quietly rather than try to fix them. I simply don't make myself available for anything less than care & respect anymore. As a result, I have more energy! And I actually feel better with the TMS diagnosis because it gives me agency to fully recover rather than diagnosis being incurable. We know our personality type is motivated & conscientious, so doing the work is not as daunting as it may be to others. I'm not saying this processing & work is easy or quick but the ideas are simple to understand & make sense. I look forward to more of your updates & wish you well in your healing journey.

Thanks for such a detailed description of what you've been through and what's helped so far. All the best on your journey!
