It is not so much that doctors have been saying disheartening things to me, but more so their indifference.
When I was in serious pain and almost could not walk they just sent me home with painkillers, when they had to call an ambulance because my pain was so bad that I was screaming...they put me on pain killers....when my foot got numb....they put me on more painkillers.... i felt so left alone with my pain.... and finally a nurse that I know arranges for an MRI appointment. After the MRI they called me to see the doctor immediately and urgently since the results where so bad.....and I was like yeah...right..first you ignore all I am saying and then all of a sudden once you see the MRI...it is urgent... i felt that I am not taken seriously.... When I was asking detailed questions they where impatient and condescensing.
And on top of that one of the orthopedist sexually harrassed me (touched me in an inappropropriate way). I completely lost trust in the medical profession to be honest.
Anyway I want to point out one surgeon that I saw for a second opinion after it became obvious that I need microdiscectomy. I asked him: will I be able to do all sport again after the surgery incl trailrunning? And he said confidently: Yes, Everything you want. And this still sticks with me today.
