Day 1 Days 1-2

KLS

Newcomer
I just started the Structured Educational Program. I have done lots of reading about TMS and was cured of back pain after reading Dr. Sarno's book and identifying an embarrassing attitude I wanted to keep hidden from myself and others. About 8 years ago I was given the responsibility to care for my mother, serve as her trustee, etc. I did not want to do this and admitting that to myself resolved 2 years of debilitating back pain.
I now need to go deep into myself to understand why I have had severe leg pain for 10 months. I have had an MRI and Xrays. I am in pain management with my health care group (not especially helpful: PT, prescriptions, OTC lotions, etc.) Fortunately this health care group has a rehabilitative psychologist, who I will see early May. Like many big institutions, this one moves slowly. I told my primary care doc that I thought the pain might be mind/body back in December.
Even though I have had a lot of pain, in a way, it has been a gift because I have had to move inward, look at myself, give up some activities, and renew my faith and spirituality. There are good fruits, but I am ready to let go of the pain and take up my new life. I decided to use the SEP after reading Alan G.'s new book and also Unlearn Your Pain. Both are good resources, but writing here will help me
I also watch Tanner Murtagh on YouTube and do some meditations with The Mindful Movement.
I think writing in this Forum will help me focus. Thanks for reading.
