Day 8 Day 8

I started therapy and while they didn’t know about Dr. Sarno, they were familiar with repressed emotions presenting themselves physically. I was assessed for somatic anxiety which is currently the only explanation for what I’m feeling. I am going through perimenopause but my experience is being amplified and the only explanation is my body is using symptoms as a distraction from trauma.

Some of my symptoms are general anxiety, panic attacks, neck and shoulder pain, neurogenic sensations like butterflies in the chest and stomach, intermittent heartburn despite being on a PPI and having a strict diet that includes acid free foods. My list of safe foods gets smaller every few months. I tested negative for allergies, MCAS, negative ANA, all tests are normal. I do have a minor sliding hiatal hernia, but Doctor Sarno mentions that in his book “The Mindbody Prescription” and everything I read about it says I shouldn’t be having these types of symptoms. I believe I have TMS and I’m looking forward to getting to the part where I can start healing.

Welcome to the Forum!

You're in the right place and congratulations on starting the SEP. Just take each day's exercise as it comes and don't focus too much on a timeline for healing.

Thank you! That’s a good reminder because I tend to want instant results. :bag::banghead:
