I don't think any doctor said anything to me that was super disheartening because most of them just said "there is nothing wrong with you." Now that I know it's TMS, they were kind of right in their own way. There is nothing physically wrong with me and it can be cured by addressing my inner emotions/anger. However, going to more than 11 doctors for my various symptoms (jaw pain, IBS, acid reflux, heart burn, pelvic inflammation (IC), mild back pain, insomnia, anxiety, food allergies), and getting no real answers had its own negative impact on me. I was convinced that there was something wrong with me because the physical pain is very real. This made me even more determined to find out what's going on with my body on my own. I would often do research online and read posts by people who have similar symptoms. The most disheartening thing that I ever read online is that there is no cure for TMJ, IBS, or interstitial cystitis. Reading that almost broke me.
