Guys, I'm so sick of this. I hate dialogue writing so i tried to just do some free writing but im sick of writing to a trait as if im an imbecile. What do we do when we encounter resistance to journaling?

I totally get what you mean. When journaling starts to feel like a chore, it can make resistance even stronger. I found it helped to look for a way of doing it that suited me better. There are some different approaches listed here: https://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/How_do_I_journal?#Cluster_.2F_Spider_Writing I used the 'cluster/spider writing' option when I used to journal because it only takes 5 minutes of your time at a time, so I was less likely to balk at doing it. The success that I have experienced in my recovery process thus far has been all about taking a tiny 'baby steps' approach with everything that I do, which has helped me with my brain's resistance.

Try voice recording on your phone.

Unfortunately, this happens to us sometimes. I pushed myself to write. If I was resisting it-then I probably needed to just do it.
There are other ways to journal and maybe you just need to switch topics for a little bit as well. Sometimes I took a break on the SEP if I was feeling that it was overwhelming me. It took me almost 2 months to finish the program. So hopefully any of these ideas will help you.

I actually found the last questions of the day, the ones to think about, much better for journaling.
I had so many interesting “resists” to journaling: my nose would itch, I’d get icy cold, suddenly need the bathrooms or have great thirst…
Meditation or quiet reflection is often recommended after journaling but I began to meditate before. Made sure I was warm, comfy and had a drink and then did 10 minutes of a breathing meditation and taught myself writing was safe, resistance is no big deal and to just ignore it, look forward to learning more about myself. I also learned to write positive entries because focusing on only heavy emotions wasn’t enough breadth for me. I needed to feel good! It started with writing an (unsent letter, which became a sent letter when I found out my friend was dying) to my dear friend. How much our friendship meant and how alike we were and how much joy I found in our differences.. what I loved about her. It really helped me focus on good things in life.
