Day 22: Most helpful part of the program

Well, let's see. Journaling has been rough. Because it's made me see that that I'm not done grieving, and brought me to a huge "A-ha" moment: that I need my physical pain in order to prevent any potential future emotional pain. My brain thinks I'm better off alone and isolated and "safe" than, say, putting myself out there and getting hurt again. It's a pattern I've relived over and over again, my own personal Groundhog Day. And yet it took this pain-in-the-ass (literally) journaling to make me see it. I hate journaling. So I guess that means it wins the award for Most Helpful Part of the Program.

It is these kinds of direct, difficult realizations ---and connecting them to TMS theory and practice which break the unconscious pain patterns. Congratulations!

What I found very encouraging in drSarnio’s book was that he said that you don’t necessarily need to fix all the problems, just realizing them should really help.
PPPHEEWW
That is really encouraging when you discover how you functionned your whole life and are completely overwhelmed. I am hoping one can get some pain relief before making huge changes in one’s external life .
Wishing you to have proof soon that drSarnio was right on that one ++++

Nice chickadee, Zuz! Do you work with birds?
You don't (necessarily) need to make big changes in your life - just in the way you think. Journaling made me aware of how often the words "I can't" popped up in my head. I've consciously replaced them with "I CAN" and it hasn't taken long before that's had a profound effect. Instead of putting your life on hold waiting for pain relief, try the opposite. You don't need to be afraid, It's just TMS.

Thank you I needed to read this today. I FINALLY have my first dose of vaccine scheduled for today. Back pain being bad since a few days I worry about being able to just drive there and back. I am careful about the words I think and talk to myself that my muscles are just a bit stiff, nothing worse and it will go well.

I work mostly with dogs but I love training ( in a pleasant way) any creature. These were some chickadees in a park soothing my soul with their lovely presence:).
