I think all of the articles that I have read have been very interesting and helpful. I find the audio clips of Alan walking through how to work with the pain so helpful. It gives me phrases and examples to use on myself. The smallest thing can be such a game changer. My brain constantly collects data, to support or deny my internal thoughts & experiences. For along time I associated the pain I have with how "in alignment" I was and how activated my nervous system was. I see an osteopath who is a fan of Dr. Sarno s work. He agrees about the TMS diagnosis. About month ago I saw him and my hips were twisted my pelvis was all weird and I thought that misalignment was creating the burning pain by aggravating a tendon or something. I saw him again last week, No twists everything was where it was supposed to be, my muscles were more relaxed and the burning pain would still come and go. THAT is proof that I have TMS and NOT fibromyalgia. I also like to remind myself that lots of people have weird things in their body alignment and don't suffer from pain. Lots of people have deconditioned muscles and don't live in pain. I have embraced the TMS diagnosis. I catch myself still worrying about flare ups and pain at night. I remind myself that I have TMS and go over the 12 daily reminders. I also have a fair amount of data that tells me I can change the pain by focusing on the psychological/emotional aspects.
I am getting back to yoga again. Since Saturday I have done 3 10 minute flows, and NO flare up. I'm going to test drive another bike today after work. It is a lower step through ebike, so I may come home with a new bike!
