Day 1 - Educational Program

After creating my first post on the TMS website a few days ago, I was recommended to start the Educational Program. So, here goes. I have read the books on TMS, do breathing exercise and have started journeling. I like what I'm learning and it makes sense, though I'm critical of myself that I'm not making the progress I want. What I keep hearing is to be consistent and that's what I'm going to do.

To be honest, even writing a post on here helps me emotionally. It's a tiny bit of relief to say my fears and and talk about the shame I feel being like this, out loud. It sure beats stuffing it all down and pretending things are ok.

Between the SEP and this forum I really learned about myself doing the program. Being consistent is another key factor. It's good you recognize that you are critical of yourself when you are not making progress. Putting pressure on yourself can actually delay healing. Your nervous system is sensing a threat. The best advice that was told to me was to do the SEP and then live your life. Find a hobby or something to look forward to. This shows your body that you are OK!
Welcome!

I have all the medicinal coping mechanisms to help me lead a mostly normal life and generally do most things I want to, though this makes little difference to the pain. I stopped listening to medical doctors years ago when they told me I'd never lead the life I wanted or be able to work. Something is definitely unresolved though as I have so many health problems it's ridiculous. I'm always worried and fearful. If I'm totally honest I'm furious about it. At least I know I'm angry! That's a good place to start.
