Creating calm with repetitive tasks

Hi yb44,

I'm not a knitter, but read a great article lately in Daily Good: News That Inspires:

http://www.dailygood.org/view.php?qid=5243

Sorry, don't know how to hyperlink. It's about a woman who's taken knitting into the federal prisons in the US, to the male population. They love it apparently, as it's so effective in defusing rage, among other benefits. Maybe I shall take it up!

Thanks for that article, tarala. I like the way the men were able to let their guard down, help each other, share their life challenges and generally feel less isolated.

I do a bit of knitting but have far more experience of sewing. I joined a group and eventually enrolled on a course after my first child was born. I had been suffering long term from post-natal depression and had refused to take any medication. Being a part of these groups made the world of difference to me and was instrumental in my recovery.
