I think it is a tms equivalent. It's definitely under the umbrella of anxiety and ocd. It is a vast category that takes different forms but at the end of the day it comes down to mindset. An anorexic would be someone with a rigid, black and white mindset...just as someone who is obsessed with working out or healthy eating to an extreme, addiction type level. If it consumes all your thoughts and your emotions hinge on these rituals and behaviors...it's a problem...a maladaptive way that your brain is using to cope. So whether the individual is obese or anorexic or has a disordered relationship with food and body image etc....it is all a distraction from emotions. The primitive brain is running the show....just as with other addictions such as alcoholism, sex addiction, gambling etc... They are all connected and they are all prisons constructed by the self. All sufferers , share distortions of thinking and false beliefs. As far as the healing process, it's the same as healing from TMS imo. It always comes back to feeling your feelings, dismantling those false beliefs, being your authentic self and truly living your life.
