I was 7 months pregnant at the time. I had to get a filling at the dentist and after that everything went downhill. I had a random stinging sensation in other teeth nowhere near the filling I had done so saw an endodontist and got a root canal thinking it would stop the stinging on that tooth and ever since that day everything went to shit. My cheek and above that tooth would hurt if I would press it was also slightly red. They had to shave it because it was high filling, then I developed this burning on my gumline like a allodynia if my tongue would touch there it would burn even worse that burning spread to my palate got ozone injections burning got worse. 3 weeks later my taste and smell went muted. My symptoms progressively got worse and worse each month. The following month my tongue was partially numb and the tip of my tongue started burning my gums went partially numb on both sides of my face the top and the bottom even tho the root canal was only on the top left. taste and smell has declined over last 10 months to near ZERO
meanwhile the while the burning spread to my whole entire tongue feeling like the skin was ripped off or someone poured acid on my tongue. It also spread to my throat at one point.
Been on over 10 pharmaceuticals ( even while pregnant) this was over the span of 10 months it was gabapentin Clonazapam, Ambien, Gabapentin, Zoloft, Lyrica and many more and now I worry this has damaged my brain, neurotransmitters but I just could not handle the burning and was first put on sleeping pills and gabapentin to try to make it to the end of my pregnancy.
Thank the LORD my baby was ok and I made it those last 3 months.
I had to have a c section to get her own safely. After that all my symptoms continued to get worse.
After delivery I did massive amounts of bloodwork seen over 20 doctors MRI’s. Thousands of dollars. Seen 10 dentists, CT cone beam scans nothing wrong with the tooth itself every dentist said.
Saw Orofacial doctor who said he thought burning mouth but I wasn’t fitting the exact diagnosis.
Best I got was central sensitization or some kind of cranial neuropathy. been at an apt or treatment almost everyday since my baby was born it’s been 7 months. They don’t find anything! & don’t know because my symptoms don’t add up to this much destruction from a single root canal & no one knows why I lost my taste and smell either because I was not sick nor COVID. been suffering for 10 months ZERO answers or relief. I haven’t been able to be a functioning human
Is this tissue or nerve damage or TMS?? I’ve done 5 CBCT cone beam scans all they see is a small dark spot above. It was not infection not cracked I refused to do a re-treatment or extraction because every dentist I saw said this would not solve the problem.
Any advice please it’s been 10 months the burning on my tongue and the numbness are a 15/10 pain level. I also have ZERO idea why my taste and smell are gone
