Broken link - Thankyoudrsarno.org

Hi magnificent team,
It seems that the above link scattered around the place now get directed to some gambling site - someone has poached that web address which is a pity.

THANK YOU for reporting this @Urbanjourney. Apparently we've lost that domain, and it sounds like it will take a bit of work to obtain a new one and transfer our content, which was safely backed up.

I found this news item which Forest said pretty much sums up what likely happened: https://www.yahoo.com/news/world/articles/queen-charity-website-taken-over-082109157.html (Queen’s Charity Website Taken Over by Slots — Audit Reveals Hundreds of Gambling Sites Snapping Up Trusted Domains)

My concern is to deactivate any links we have to the stolen URL, both on the forum and the wiki. As you mentioned, links are "scattered around the place" and I have no idea how many there might be. If anyone out there is interested in helping identify where those links are, please DM me while I come up with a logical plan for searching and documenting a list which I can then attack methodically. In my spare time. The idea is to replace the bad URL with a link to a thread here on the forum, that explains what happened, and which I can quickly update with a new URL if we can get the website reinstated.

There's something called Screaming Frog SEO spider that can do it but i've got no experience in it - you just need something that crawls your whole website to identify the links and perhaps it has functionality like a "replace with" type thing on word docs

I've created a thread on the ThankYouDrSarno subforum here: https://www.tmswiki.org/forum/threads/the-thank-you-dr-sarno-website-was-hijacked.34037/ (The Thank You Dr Sarno website was hijacked)

I absolutely hate that we have criminally evil links on our two webs sites. I want to replace all instances of the corrupt URL with this one, and I will ask Forest about your suggestion, because the project is daunting. A query on the phrase thankyoudrsarno on the forum alone has returned 8 pages of results, which is almost 160 individual posts that mention the project, and most of them provide the link. To me, even a mention is bad because people might search for it, and the SEO of course still points to the now-corrupted URL. My half-baked solution to that is to add my new link even if the original post did not have a link, so that people are less likely to try searching. I have asked Forest if we can even change the SEO somehow.

Going back to my eight pages of results, at twenty posts per page, sorted by most recent, it took me a good half hour to edit the first twenty. Unfortunately there's also the wiki, which is a LOT harder to edit due to an irritating login process for each page using a really old and obscure utility, as well as the awkwardness and fussiness of HTML.

Aargh! 🤬

I will do some research today and see if i can find an easier way to do it. I'm not an I.T expert however I am a great researcher and dedicated problem solver so will report back on what i find....if anything. My instant reaction is the same as yours - the intense anger at the fact that a gambling site is now trying to spread it's tentacles on the back of the popularity of Dr Sarno but in the very very small dipping of the toe i've done in reading Dr Joe Dispenza's work, I'm aware of this emotion and reaction which is a repetition of some of my patterns (getting angry at people doing the wrong thing in traffic is another 😆 ) and keeping me attached into my current reality.

LOL, @Urbanjourney - I'm totally with you. Indeed, it goes to our inherent need to control our environment - which of course is ultimately uncontrollable. It eventually comes back to the need to feel safe, which is just basic survival. And we CAN survive this! dancea
