You can choose what you do with these memories and the emotions/thoughts that surround them.
You could: sit with it, dropping into your body and just remember and sense how these things physically feel - how you feel.
You could write an unsent letter to the person, and then simply sit quietly with all the things that come up afterwards or meditate for a bit afterwards.
You could do a simple journal.
You could do a spider writing exorcise (Dr. Schubiner teaches this technique you could google what this method is)
You could meditate.
Really, you can work with any method you feel comfortable with and simply allow what comes up to come up without forcing anything.
As for dreams: sleep is a chance for the mind doing what it was meant to do - simply process things so it can rest. Just let the dreams come and recognize that you might not be able to make too much sense of them, and that is perfectly OK.
I'd suggest having kindness and compassion for yourself and for your tiny self at possibly having to block out memories and not force them, just as you wouldn't force any child to re-live a trauma. Your body can process this stuff, all you need to do is allow stuff to come up if it does. That's it.
