BELONGING TO SUPPORT GROUPS A NO NO?

I agree, but I also think it's about striking a balance. It shouldn't be a means of deflecting from ones own issues. Reaching out and helping others should be from a place of love, not from ego or for self gain.

I have three friends who have frequented bereavement support groups, one for almost ten years following the untimely death of her teenaged daughter, and from my vantage point it appears that these groups tend to prolong the healing process: to pick the scab off the otherwise-healing wound.

True but as long as we don't start talking about our pain and comparing it to each other that does nothing but feed the cycle. This is a forum of support and growth…even though it is ok to vent once in awhile
