Dear community,
I'm looking for someone who has experience with the Blastocystis hominis parasite. This was discovered in my case and determined to be a possible cause of persistent diarrhea, extreme flatulence and intestinal movements. There was no treatment with antibiotics because the symptoms had improved with a diet and the success of the antibiotic therapy was doubtful.
After 8 weeks of dieting I was symptom-free, I felt better than I had in the last few years, I was fit and happy. At the same time there was my mother's 100th birthday, with whom I don't have a good relationship. That's why I thought that psychological circumstances may played a role.
Unfortunately I was only fine for one week, now the symptoms (violent rumbling in the intestines and flatulence) are returning and I'm totally frustrated. I continue to eat a lot of prebiotic and probiotic foods and avoid simple carbohydrates, sugar and alcohol in order to continue to build up my intestinal flora and not damage it again. But the symptoms still return.
My doctor gave me a medication for IBS that sometimes seems to help, so I am confident that the cause is not the parasite. But unfortunately I can't get the thought out of my head. There is a study that found that this parasite is present in many people but does not cause any symptoms. However, it is found disproportionately often in patients with IBS.
The fact that the symptoms mainly occur in the morning and evening speaks for TMS.
I had a similar episode 3 years ago, when the symptoms disappeared after 8 weeks of diet.
I have had great success in the past with reading the books from dr. Sarno and Steven Ozanich and was able to successfully combat shoulder pain, RSI, hip pain, persistent cystitis, and most recently even my migraines.
Have any of you made similar experiences and can give me an advice?
Thank you so much!
