Hi! New member here - I’ve had pain for a number of months now. Ativan not only knocks out my anxiety, but it knocks out my pain as well. And I get at least 24 hours relief from it whereas Ativan is only supposed to work for 8-10 hours.
My OT says Ativan works on my pain because my pain is related to anxiety/nervous system tension and that it takes suppresses the nervous system so well that it takes that long for it to start ramping up again. My primary seems to agree.
My brain has such a hard time accepting this! Does anyone else have experience like this with anti-anxiety meds (particularly that class of meds)? Or is anyone able to speak to this at all?
