What I really love is seeing how more and more people seem to be open to this concept. TMS is ultimately about empowerment, and many of us feel like our happiness is being held hostage by the pain, by conventionally inconclusive, and sometimes downright incorrect diagnoses. Broad-scale change is happening. TMS recovery represents an inevitable evolution in empowerment.

I hope Sarno gets to see the sea change. I agree with you completely, a paradigm shift is long overdue and it will be empowering.

The pure and simple truth of Dr. Sarno's diagnosis is it's power. Over explaining, repackaging for branding and marketing clouds the message. It is why Dr. Schechter's endorsing a tool confuses the message of mindbody and seems to undermine achieving healing of psychologically induced pain with a mental process only.

When it comes to allieving pain and suffering, there should not be a profit motive other than a modest scale to cover costs. It is a mission of service to lead with correct information and gather more open minds to embrace the tools nature has placed within, to heal our bodies from really incredible at times pain, and needless anxiety, depression, anger, fear.

I will not hold my breath the world will flock to this form of healing that cures the problem, rather than treating symptoms.

Look at the silly Governments around the globe gushing about climate change and threatening to subvert first amendment rights to those who question the science of man caused climate change. It is about control of resources and currency. If Governments cared about people and the planet, wouldn't they talk more about clean air and clean water for all people, and to use best practices for healthcare? Are'nt they smart enough to capture the logic of mindbody science and the fact this diagnosis is proven clinically with better results than conventional medicine, such as surgery or the endless back, wrist, and knee braces that are worthless?

Do Officials and conventional Doctors really care about people, are they close minded, or too stubborn to risk income streams they desperately want to protect?

If they truly care about people, there must be constant mindful and observant practice of the art of medicine or the art of leadership. Embracing mindbody medicine and acknowledging that every ailment known has unconscious emotion as risk factor should to any thoughtful person be the tip of every thought that passes behind their eyelids.

Unfortunately I think that medical practitioners that do truly care also feel the brunt of this oppressive and failed system. Physician suicide rates are a real issue. Many are over-worked, under-rewarded (in terms of actually helping people), and the end result is a few pharmocrats making out like bandits while much of the world suffers. I'm not a stupid person. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is an indictment of a horribly, horribly broken system in a country that touts itself as a leader. It's a f*cking disgrace.

Thank God for Sarno and other brave, dedicated physicians like him.

David Hanscom writes from a very personal baseline on this subject. It is but one reason I have such admiration for him. I think we are lucky to have such a compassionate and soulful physician on the forum, one who is brave enough to speak out against his own profession in the spirit of healing not only individuals but the way we view health and care. The world so desperately needs an empathic, global perspective like this. We are all the same, under the skin.

Yes, Doctor David Hanscom is courageous to pioneer with the small, and hopefully growing, collection of Physicians zeroing in on the mindbody. The impact of unconscious emotions and retraining or fine tuning personality. Doctor Sarno repeatedly expressed the purpose of his books was to encourage others in medicine to pick up the baton and run with a new diagnosis that is correct and extremely helpful.

Evolution is happening within our own bodies during our lifetime. Using awareness of the mind spurs a new course in our ability to function better physically, mentally, and psychologically at the level of evolution.

Expressing Doctor Sarno is best done by Doctor Sarno. Quote Doctor Sarno.

Regurgitation is not accurate representation of Doctor Sarno. Tampering with correct information contributes to the confusion.

In Marks Daily Apple, " When something hurts, your nervous system is telling you that something is wrong with your body (that stove is hot, your ankle is sprained, you pulled your hamstring) and you should fix it (pull your hand away, elevate and stay off your ankle, warm-up before you sprint next time)." According to Doctor Sarno, the something that is wrong with your body is harmless and benign and will end when the cover is blown on the covert action to distract from unconscious emotions. Keep the facts up front. There is not an injury in almost all cases.

In Marks Daily Apply, "Acute pain can usually be trusted. Chronic pain is trickier. There may have been initial tissue damage, but instead of decreasing the pain as the damage healed, it increased: chronic pain usually gets worse, not better." According to Doctor Sarno, the acute attack is most common in psychosomatic syndromes and they often become chronic. Therefore, they are the same, TMS across the board. And, keep the facts up front. Although it is possible there may have been initial tissue damage that leads to chronic pain, in almost all cases there is not initial tissue damage and there is not an injury.

This is very important says the good Doctor!

All well meaning marketers, be they Doctors, self help gurus, or God knows who...should not interpret Doctor Sarno. They should quote him.

The problem is confusion! Please do not reinvent the wheel. You cannot perfect perfection. Doctor Sarno himself said if a drug were developed that could block the signals from the mind to the body to cause psychosomatic pain as distraction from unconscious emotions, he would not prescribe the drug. Because, to do so would treat the symptom and not uproot the cause.

There are two ballparks, the physical and psychological. Doctor Sarno says plant both feet in the psychological. Or else you are doomed.
