THIS WEEK ON TMS ROUNDTABLE RECOVERY LIVE Q&A!! What happens when th
e person caring for you realizes she needs healing too?

For years, Lisa Watt was not only Lauren’s mother. She was her full-time caregiver.

Lauren became severely ill at just 14 years old and spent much of the next eight years mostly bedridden, living with MCAS, POTS, chronic pain, extreme fatigue, food sensitivities, migraines, and many other debilitating symptoms.

At the same time, Lisa was navigating her own health challenges, including Hashimoto’s and additional autoimmune symptoms.

For years, their roles were clear:

Lauren was the one who was sick.
Lisa was the one taking care of her.
Then something began to change.

In 2023, mother and daughter entered the world of nervous system regulation and brain retraining together.

The caregiver became a recovery partner.

This week, I am so honored to welcome Lauren Watt and her mother, Lisa Watt, along with our wonderful cohost Jeannie Kulwin.

Lauren’s journey began at age 14, when chronic illness dramatically changed her life. At her sickest, she was mostly bedridden, used a wheelchair outside the home, could tolerate only a small number of foods, and lived with dozens of symptoms.

After years of treatments and searching for answers, Lauren began brain retraining in 2023 following another major setback after COVID.

Within eight months, she ran her first 5K and began hiking, biking, expanding her diet, returning to school, and rebuilding a life that once felt impossibly far away.

But this is also Lisa’s story.

Lisa became Lauren’s full-time caregiver in 2015 while continuing to experience autoimmune health challenges of her own. In 2023, she and Lauren began exploring nervous system regulation and neuroplastic approaches side by side.

Together, we’ll talk about what it is like to move from caregiver and patient to recovery partners, what they learned from studying neuroplasticity together, the emotional impact of years of chronic illness on an entire family, and how both mother and daughter began rebuilding their lives.

And I am especially happy to have our regular cohost Jeannie Kulwin joining us for this conversation.

If you or someone you love is navigating chronic illness, MCAS, POTS, Hashimoto’s, caregiving, or the emotional toll of a long recovery journey, I hope this conversation brings you something we care deeply about here at the RoundTable:

Hope.
