Dr. Zafirides 99% Invisible & TMS

Peter Zafirides

Physician
Hi Everyone,

My absolutely, positively favorite podcast in the entire world is 99% Invisible. The creator and host, Roman Mars, is just incredible. I am sure if you start listening to it, you will be hooked.

I really encourage you to listen to his latest episode (#75) "Secret Staircase". You can find it here:

In this episode, he talks about the public staircases all throughout the city of San Francisco. But the main reason I recommend you listen to it (beyond it being a beautiful podcast) is that the individual who has documented these public staircases has (had) TMS - no doubt in my mind. He was facing yet another (his 3rd) back surgery and just refused to do it due to the long convalescence and the past 2 surgeries. Instead, he chose to just started walking and began documenting these public staircases all over San Francisco and beyond.

As Roman Mars said in the episode, "and as he continued to walk, his back pain began to go away..."

It is a wonderful example of the amazing courage, strength and power every one of us possesses.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

-Dr. Z

PS: I am not affiliated with 99% Invisible in any way, I am just a huge fan - one of "The Invisiblers".
