Sounds like if your going to the gym-
Just make sure to start back slow.
If you start back with a 10 minute workout-
It will help forward your movement.
Less you know when your body is saying stop.
That's key to workout recovery ok.
Then you can start working out more faster and longer
and getting stronger quicker so your immune system will
fight the tension we've put on our mind body creating stress
tension that leads to pain and disease.
Come to think of it. We need to start back at anything slowly
like im doing 10 minutes in starting recovery now.
    Remember physical exercise has no
effect on whether the physical pain will cease.
Only the emotional thoughts will heal the physical.

These workouts can be all spiritual and physical and that's a
powerhouse in our unity of mind body sprit.

Just the endorphin relief which will calm the focus aspect.

We workout to build our real life weak lagging muscles up.
This will help little to distinguish pain relief-
from blood flow to the area that is automatically bound.
although no blood will reach the area the mind puts a stronghold on.
Ya know those things your brain thinks about and you
cant control cause its your personality.

That kind of personality trait has to have a total lifestyle change.

    God bless

I never considered that a workout could have a spiritual aspect. Could you say more about this?

I am working up the courage to get to the local gym and get on one of the bikes and the elliptical. 10 minutes seems like an age for me. I think I would have to set my sights a little shorter, like maybe 3 minutes and see how I get on. What puts me off is having to pay for a full session and then peetering out after a few minutes. My goal at the moment is picking up the pace when I walk, walking more on an incline, etc. I thought I would go back to my Pilates sessions but the instructor is so damning of the TMS theory and I just know he would fuss over every exercise in terms of what I should and shouldn't be doing. In other words he would try to direct my focus firmly on the physical, not on the psychological and certainly not on the spiritual!

In talking about the fullness in body and spirit you feel
when you get a good workout in yb44
that feeling that you cant be stopped can be spiritual.
Strength has a powerful effect on the way we feel in our hearts
    which also touches our spirit.

I never remember coming back from being weak and sickly
to being vibrant and alive and not feeling close in spirit to my higher power

its a feeling of closeness to others and your own spirit
its like I train my body like I do my mind
to be the best versions I can be so I can enjoy the fruits
    of a healthy mind body

Were inter- connected- mindbody as you know
so we work the mind and feel better.
We read Eckhart Tolle and feel better, Claire Weekes and feel better
John Sarno helps me feel better-
The Word of God, The Holy Bible makes me feel better

And so does exercise after I get over the initial hump of feeling like im going to pass out.
Then I start to go from walking by faith and hope to jogging by faith and hope-
then from jogging to running- there's this connection,
that I only get from body exercise.
It helps me feel closer in my spirit with the spiritual world

Its as simple as that yb44
To me id assume its like the kid that had 44 minutes in heaven
once my mind is awake through mindfulness and gratitude
and I've trained my body to exercise then the feeling of wholeness
completes me....which helps keep my enthusiasm alive and kickin

    Thanks yb44

Herbie, you sure offer some fantastic mind-body-spirit inspiration in
talking about the spiritual benefits of exercise.

I think a lot of runners and joggers get a spiritual lift out of their running.
They may not even realize it, but it would be great if they did.

Why not combine a visit with God with a gym exercise or a run or a swim,
even while pedaling a bike, whether outdoors or on an indoor stationary bike?
It could benefit the spirit even more than listening to rock music on headphones.

Lots of people say they feel better when they exercise with a friend.
But they can't always get a friend to be with them.

God can be their friend and partner in exercise.

You do what yb knows is best in heart
and youll come out just fine- you need no imposed rules
our spirits are who we are behind the body.

3 minutes is good to start back at.
My first workout back was like 1 minute
then I got sick again, so I had to really watch myself.

I know now I can do another 10 minutes a day
by the end of the month ill be up to 30 minutes
and that's when I really start to feel better and better.

I talk as I've had this tic fever before but really I've been sick before
with high blood pressure which was stress imposed
I came back and beat that with meditation
diet control and focusing on my higher power.
Then to the exercises and completetion.
The high Blood pressure made me feel terrible if I tried to workout
till I learned to just chill and go with the flow.

We learn a lot in life yb44
and this lesson of exercise when able
has always put me back in the drivers seat,

Yea I feel real good when I listen to the scripture on tape while
working out- im more than a conqueror, I can do all things
im high above all doubt and strife flying on angels wings.

Im blessed coming and going- in the city and the country.
Im blessed with everything I lay my hands too.
Those power scriptures just build me up when
    exercising and struggling ya know.

While exercising I also listen to Napoleon Hill, the law of success
the law of attraction and much more.
As I get stronger ill usually listen to more
    philosophical and psychological
    teachings....

The magic is the connection with heart to hope.
Being able to walk a mile when all you've been able to -
is walk to the bathroom will help build faith too.

    Enthusiasm is created with faith
We need not wait on enthusiasm
We can create it through our will , perseverance ,
    contentment and hope.

As we grow older and wiser we learn healing from the heart
is a special antidote to any situation.

It looks like you've licked the tic.
Little things can cause a lot of pain.
Thanks to Dr. Sarno and TMS it doesn't have to last long.
But in the case of the tic, you needed an antibiotic from the doc and got it.
    The rest is TMS healing.

Hi yb44, my feelings were the same about the gym. I'm already an over-doer, and if I have paid for it it's even worse. I found a "jogging" (ha!) program on the web that starts so easy and simply I have found I can follow it, and not get hurt by over extending myself. Basically you walk for six minutes, then jog for one, repeat three times, for the first week. I did that bit for two weeks! Next you walk for five, jog for two, etc. The link I used is http://running.about.com/od/getstartedwithrunning/ht/getstarted.htmbut there are lots of others. I figure once I'm up to being able to jog for 15 or 20 minutes, I'll feel more confident about a gym or a sport.

I just tried one of the 7-minute High Intensity Interval Training routines, modified for beginners. Having been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (before knowing it's TMS) I was a little worried about one of the symptoms associated with that condition called 'post-exertional malaise', where you feel like you've been hit by a truck after working out. But I told my brain to ignore those messages of fear, and I felt fine afterward--just normal tiredness. Feels good to know I can push myself.

Ellen, I too was diagnosed with fibro (which I know is TMS) so I appreciate hearing about your victory. I've been slowing adding things back into my routine. I've always loved exercise and my world was becoming quite small as I quit doing a lot of things. It feels so good and empowering to taking my life back!
