    Urgent need help

Why don't you monitor your blood pressure at home? This will give you some idea of what is going on. Some people that go to the doctor's office will get a higher reading than if it was taken at home.

Has anyone lost a lot of physical strength? How long did it take to regain?

I was housebound for 3 years. I could only walk a few steps from the bedroom to the living room to the kitchen. It took me 1 year to get back to normal walking. After that point, I gradually added other activities until I now lead a normal life.

Dealing with Shame & Guilt. :(

Guilt and shame also was the cause of my TMS. Basically what work for me was accepting that the shadow part of my personality was just as lovable as the parts that I liked about myself. I learned to appreciate these feelings. If I didn't have the contrasts of the shadow part, I would not...

Day 4 Does Pain get worse before it gets better?

That is a good sign when your body gets new symptoms, especially at a place that was normal. That means you have TMS on the run. It is looking for a new place to divert your fear and focus.

Great post, Plum. You explain the concept so well.

Day 3 Exercise? - I'm in no shape to exercise!

I sat in a chair all day and did not leave my house for 4 years except for doctor's appointments. When I went to a doctor's appointment it would always be in a wheel chair. I thought if I sat in a chair long enough that my muscles would have plenty time to recover from pain. In front the...

    Financial Struggles

Every day I would look around and find things to be grateful for. After you do this for a while, it will become a habit. You will start noticing all the great things life has for you while you are recovering. You may be struggling financially but you are so rich in many other ways.

    Guilt

This is what you remind yourself after you feel any type of guilt. After you practice compassion for yourself, guilt will become less of an issue for you. Guilt was created by childhood conditioning. You were not born to feel guilty. It is a learned response. If you keep making the same...

    Guilt

Another way of handling guilt is to think to yourself that you were doing the best you could with the knowledge and experience that you had at the time. If you had known better, then you would have done better. With this type of thinking, it is then easy to have compassion for yourself.

    Disappointed in TMS wiki chat

The important thing about TMS is to think 100% that your pain is psychological. As far as the percentage of healing will depend on how much of your thinking is 100% psychological. I hope you understand that point. Your pain may go away at a certain point but it may come back once in a while...

    Disappointed in TMS wiki chat

I was at the chat yesterday. The leader of the chat is a volunteer who has given up her time to help to lead a chat group and answer many questions on the forum. I rather have her to give an honest answer about her TMS experience than to be doctored with theories. There are many different...

    desperately want to believe

What I mean by cleaning up some mental beliefs involves how you talk to yourself. You practice love and compassion with yourself by never saying negative things to yourself, quit judging yourself, and being the way you would treat a good friend. You also learn to love all parts of your...

    desperately want to believe

I did not go to therapy to overcome TMS. It was self-discovery. What help me to accept that TMS was the problem was after seeing so many doctors. The doctors just kept prescribing another stronger pain pill and send me off the to the next specialist. One day I said to myself that I had...

    desperately want to believe

Joe, I had back pain for 4 years. I did not leave my house for 4 years except for a doctor appointment during the 4 years. I would be screaming many nights in pain. I could not tie my shoes or even walk very far. All I did was sit in a chair during that time. I have made a full recovery. I...
