Notes from training w/ Dr. Schubiner and Alan Gordon

Hi all, This past weekend, I got to attend a training with Dr. Schubiner and Alan Gordon on how providers can integrate the mind-body approach to chronic pain into their work. I feel so lucky that I was able to go to this training. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Schubiner and Alan –...

Thought I was going to be a success story

Maybe it's both? In other words, maybe there are umbrella issues, like anxiety, and also work-related factors. I think not feeling fulfilled can be a huge stressor, at least for me. I work in a field I love and feel very passionate about, but since moving into a management position a few years...

Thought I was going to be a success story

For what it's worth, I think it's amazing that you basically cured yourself for an entire month. While you must feel really anxious and discouraged at the moment, I hope that gives you a lot of confidence and hope. Even though there are some stories out there about people who were cured...

    Dr Sarno books

Hi mm718, If you're looking for an ebook, I would recommend Dr. Hanscom's book. Unlearn Your Pain is a workbook with lots of space for structured writing exercises so it makes more sense in th paper version (unless there is some equivalent for how to do the writing exercises in the ebook...

    Dr Sarno books

Have you read either Back in Control by Dr. Hanscom or Unlearn Your Pain by Dr. Schubiner? Those were probably the two most helpful, for me, of all the TMS books I've read. Best of luck :)

Training in Santa Cruz next month

Is anyone else here going to the training in January with Dr. Schubiner and Alan Gordon?? I just signed up. It would be fun to meet some of y'all in person :) https://1440.org/program/beyond-pain-management/ (Beyond Pain Management at 1440 Multiversity in Scotts Valley, California)

    TMS or pulled muscle??

Thanks, it helps just to hear someone confirm that. I've been reading In An Unspoken Voice & rereading The Mindbody Prescription but for some reason struggling with acceptance.

    TMS or pulled muscle??

It came out of nowhere about a week ago. I don't have any imaging evidence that it's torn. The doctor just recommended more PT. It's more consistent than my other symptoms- i.e. it hurts every time I get out of the car, sit cross-legged, etc. I guess it can't hurt to rest it for a week or so and...

    TMS or pulled muscle??

Hi all, Looking for some advice. I've already had this checked out by a doctor so no concern it's anything "serious", just trying to tell whether it's a muscle pull/strain or TMS. I had groin muscle pain a couple of years ago - very activity-specific, lasted about two weeks and then resolved on...

Thanks to those who shared their notes! Did they mention on the webinar if/where a recording of the webinar would be posted?

    Sudden increase in pain, struggling

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm not sure if this will be helpful, but I listened awhile back to a podcast created by someone who had struggled with pelvic pain. I listened to it before I learned about TMS but I remember that the treatment definitely involved mindbody awareness. Just...
